A team consists of at least 4 and a maximum of 10 people, all of whom must compete in the same category. For the team classification, the best four members of the team will be counted.

You can find all hosts in the #bruckfusch region here

Yes, the Glocknerkönig takes place in all weather conditions – even with snowfall on the mountain. The exception is if the road is closed by the operator for safety reasons.

Weather information will be provided in the start area via the loudspeaker system. Participants can then decide for themselves whether they want to participate. Refunds of the participation fee are not possible. Weather forecasts are provided by online weather services days in advance. In recent years, it has been found that such general weather services often provided superficial or even incorrect information. Please rely solely on this website for weather updates. The forecast will be made both by local weather services and experienced locals familiar with mountain conditions. A reliable forecast for the high mountains will only be available on the Saturday before the race.

No. Due to organizational reasons, the Light classification will not take place in 2025.

Participation is also allowed for those between 16 and 18 years old with the consent of a legal guardian.

The route of the Glocknerkönig passes right through the Hohe Tauern National Park.

At the latest, when you experience the breathtaking view during the climb to Großglockner, it should be clear to everyone:
The environment must be protected in order to continue enjoying its beauty.

Environmental protection is very important to us, which is why we have implemented the following actions:

  • Merchandise shirts made of organic cotton

  • Cups at the aid stations made from cornstarch

  • Kaiserschmarrn plates are sustainable as they are made from renewable resources and are compostable

  • Kaiserschmarrn forks made from FSC® certified wood, biodegradable and compostable

  • We pay attention to waste separation

  • At least 50% of the clothing bags are made from biodegradable material

  • Printed materials are produced locally

  • Single-use timing chips

Yes, during race office hours on Saturday, an expo will take place from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM in front of the race office. Many exhibitors will offer Glocknerkönig specials, and we will also be present with our merchandise stand.

Saturday

You are welcome to pick up the race packet for a friend.

Please bring a copy of their ID with you.

The nearest ATM is located at the Sparkasse (Glocknerstrasse 22), across from the race office on Saturday. On Sunday, the nearest ATM is at the Raiffeisenbank (Glocknerstraße 6 at the village square), also across from the race office.

It's best to pack dry and warm spare clothes in your clothing bag, as well as a backpack (to transport your race gear down to the valley).

Even in good weather, remember to bring a windbreaker, hat, and gloves, as cold temperatures can be expected in the high mountains (especially during the descent).

Please do not put valuables in the clothing bags. The organizer is not liable for the contents.

There are several sports and bike shops in the area:

In the center of Bruck, you will find the mobile bike workshop Radschlag, which is happy to assist with small repairs. (Glocknerstraße 24, 5671 Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße)

Hervis Bruck an der Glocknerstraße (Waagstraße 2, 5671 Bruck an der Glocknerstraße) also handles minor repairs.

The following bike service locations are nearby:

Bigtime Sport GmbH, Saalfhofstraße 4, 5751 Maishofen Intersport Scholz, Bahnhofstraße 13, 5700 Zell am See

We kindly ask you to dispose of your trash properly in the designated waste bins.

Yes, a team can be registered on Saturday at the race office. Unfortunately, there will be no opportunity to do so on Sunday.

How does the disposable timing chip work?

This year, we are using a disposable transponder for timing once again. It is integrated into a saddle number. The disposable chip has many advantages for the participant:

  • You can keep the number, including the timing chip, as a souvenir.

  • You don’t need to return the chip.

  • You save the fee for the chip rental and deposit.

  • The transponder is equipped with the latest technology.

  • The disposable chips are more environmentally friendly.

In terms of environmental protection, we have made an important step with the new disposable transponders:

  • Significantly less plastic, metal, and electronics are used in the transponders. While the active transponder can be reused multiple times, it must still be disposed of and replaced after a few years.

  • Unlike the active transponders, the disposable transponders don’t require batteries.

  • ThinTags (extra-thin disposable transponders) are 75% thinner than regular tags. This leads to less waste and smaller shipping volume, positively impacting CO2 emissions during production and transport.

  • Significantly lower weight and volume compared to active transponders, reducing CO2 emissions during transport.

  • CO2-neutral production.

Raceday

The tickets for the spectator bus are available on Saturday during the race office hours (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM) at the merchandise tent.
Please note, the tickets are limited to 244 pieces.
If there are remaining seats available, they can be purchased directly on the bus on Sunday.

Prices: This year's prices will be published soon.

You are welcome to drive your private car to the finish area before the roadblock to properly welcome the motivated athletes. The road will be closed from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM, from the Ferleiten toll booth to the Edelweißspitze.

This means you must pass the toll booth BEFORE 7:00 AM. A car ticket costs 40 EUR.

For safety reasons, you are not allowed to stop on the route with your car. Passage to Fuscher Törl must be ensured.

Note: The descent is only possible after the roadblock is lifted.

Team registration is unfortunately not possible on race day. We kindly ask for your understanding.

The Classic and Ultra categories start at 07:00 AM in Bruck, in the town center in front of the Tourist Info (756m above sea level).

The earlier you want to be at the front of the starting block, the earlier you need to arrive. Starting from 6:20 / 6:30 AM, the starting blocks will begin to fill up.
The starting gun will fire at exactly 07:00 AM, and by that time, you should already be in the starting block.

Yes, there are several toilets in the starting area in Bruck.

For your safety, the Red Cross will be on-site with four ambulances and two motorcycles.
Additionally, there will be motorcycles acting as course marshals to provide quick assistance in case of an emergency.

If you are not injured but are unable or unwilling to continue, you must wait for the road closure to be lifted at 10:30 AM before you can descend into the valley.

If you are unable to continue during the race, we ask you to pull over to the side of the road.
If you need assistance, please contact the sweeper vehicle.
You must wait for the road closure to be lifted at 10:30 AM before descending, as downhill rides into the valley are not allowed before that time.

Our partner, Sport 2000 Simon, follows the last participant with a breakdown vehicle.
This allows for minor repairs to be carried out on-site.

Any required spare parts must be paid for by the participant.

There is an aid station at the Piffkar (1,620 meters above sea level).
Isotonic drinks and water will be served there.
The aid station is approximately 19.3 km from Bruck and 5 km from Ferleiten.

Before the intersection to the Edelweißspitze, both finish lines are clearly marked. Straight ahead leads to Fuscher Törl, and you need to turn left for Edelweißspitze.

There will also be race marshals at the intersection who will direct you to the correct finish line based on your start number.

If you still end up finishing at the wrong finish line, your time cannot be counted.

Exception: As a participant in the Ultra race, you must finish at the Classic finish line (Fuscher Törl) after 10:15 AM (cut-off time), and you will be counted as a Classic participant.

Classic starters can finish until 11:30 AM to be included in the rankings.

Ultra starters: About 300m before the Classic finish, the routes split. At this split point, the cut-off time for Ultra participants is 10:15 AM. After 10:15 AM, all Ultra starters must finish at the Classic finish line and will be included in the Classic rankings.

If you don't pick up your clothes bag at the finish line, we will bring it back to the valley.

Yes, there is a toilet trailer at the Fuschertörl parking lot, and the toilets of the Fuscher Törl restaurant are also available for use.

Yes, the visitor buses will be used as changing rooms at the finish line.
This way, you can change in warmth.

Yes, in good weather, Kaiserschmarrn will be served in the finish area. Additionally, finishers will receive tea, isotonic drinks, and water at the finish.

You are in the high mountains, so even in good weather, you can expect cold temperatures at the finish and during the descent.

Windbreakers, caps under the helmet, gloves, etc. are recommended. In case of bad weather, appropriate rain and cold protection is strongly advised.

You can only continue to the Edelweißspitze after 10:30 AM.
The road to Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Höhe is open, and it is also possible to continue to Heiligenblut.
Returning to Bruck is only possible after the roadblock is lifted (after 10:30 AM).

Descending into the valley is only possible after 10:30 AM, once the road closure is lifted.
Please pack a warm jacket in your clothing bag if you need to wait at the top.

The first bus will leave as soon as the road opens, at 10:30 AM, back to the valley.

The other buses will depart once they are full.

The last bus departs at 12:00 PM.
Return trip only with a ticket!

No, valley transport is not possible for logistical reasons.

The only exception is - after consultation - a medical emergency of the respective participant.

The first bus departs from Fuscher Törl to Bruck at 10:30 AM.
After that, buses will depart as soon as they are full.
The last bus leaves at 12:00 PM.

If your companion misses this bus, a taxi must be called.

Unfortunately, there is no public transportation on the Salzburg side of the Großglockner.

The Großglockner Road is closed to all traffic from Ferleiten to Edelweißspitze from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM.

The section from Bruck to Ferleiten is not closed. However, delays are expected as there will be stops until the group of participants passes the respective intersections and exits.

We kindly ask you not to carelessly throw your trash (gel packs, energy bar wrappers, and banana peels) on the ground during the ascent.

The Glocknerkönig takes place right through the Hohe Tauern National Park.
In the finish area, there are waste bins that allow for waste separation.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to protect the environment.
