Glocknerkönig Ultra
The Glocknerkönig Ultra is considered an ultimate test of endurance for the participating riders, as it ascends to the highest officially accessible summit in the Alps – the Edelweißspitze at an altitude of 2,571 meters. On the additional seven hairpin bends, participants must conquer 143 vertical meters with an average gradient of 14%. This section often pushes riders to their limits and beyond, due to the thin air and cobblestone surface.
As the road closure on this segment is lifted at 10:30 AM, the cutoff time at the turnoff to the Fuschertörl Restaurant parking lot is 10:15 AM. Riders registered for the Ultra event who fail to meet this cutoff will continue to the Classic finish line, where their results will be recorded. If an Ultra participant decides to switch to the Classic finish before the 10:15 cutoff, this will be considered a withdrawal from the race.
The road closure is in effect from the toll station at Ferleiten to the Fuscherlacke Inn and Edelweißspitze between 7:00 AM and 10:30 AM. Downhill traffic is restricted starting at 6:30 AM. The Austrian traffic regulations apply throughout the entire event.
