Competition Rules and Organizational Guidelines
By registering for the 28th Glocknerkönig on June 1, 2025, you (the participant) declare your agreement with the competition rules and organizational guidelines listed below:
-
You confirm that you have no medical objections to your participation and that your level of training and health meets the requirements of the competition. You are informed of the health and other risks and circumstances associated with the event and explicitly confirm that you are participating at your own responsibility and risk.
-
You also affirm that you will not assert any legal claims or demands against the organizer, its employees, associated clubs, affected municipalities, or any other persons or bodies, unless liability insurance claims apply.
-
You agree to possible medical treatment during the event.
-
No claims for compensation can be made in the event of force majeure, postponement, shortening of the course, or cancellation.
-
Once registered, you have no right of withdrawal. A cancellation of your registration is not possible, and the entry fee is non-refundable. The only exception is if your registration is not accepted by the organizer.
-
The starter information included in the starter envelope must be read carefully by each participant. Furthermore, all announcements before, during, and after the race and the behavior guidelines provided therein must be followed.
-
You are aware that the Austrian Road Traffic Regulations (STVO) must be observed throughout the entire event.
-
The Großglockner High Alpine Road will be closed to car traffic between the toll station Ferleiten and Fuscher Törl. However, vehicles belonging to the organizing committee, emergency services, or press may still be on the course. Additionally, cyclists descending the mountain may be encountered. Keep right on the entire course!
-
Instructions from officials and medical personnel must be followed.
-
Helmets are mandatory.
-
E-bikes are not permitted. Participants using an e-bike will be disqualified and removed from the race immediately. In such cases, the entry fee will not be refunded.
-
Approximately 200 meters after the start (Classic + Ultra), there is a bottleneck at an underpass. The lead car will release the race only after passing this underpass.
-
Each participant must have individual insurance from a company authorized in Austria, covering personal and property damage liability as well as appropriate health insurance, in a level suitable for such events.
-
The lead car must not be overtaken (consequence: disqualification).
-
The organizer assumes no liability for the contents of clothing bags, whether for damage or loss. Do not place any valuables in the bags under any circumstances.
-
Participation in the Glocknerkönig ends for the participant upon leaving the finish area at Fuscher Törl (Classic) or Edelweißspitze (Ultra), or upon early withdrawal from the race.
-
You agree that your submitted data may be collected and used for newsletters, invitations, and promotional mailings. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
-
Your personal data will be transmitted to our timekeeping company Datasport in Switzerland upon registration. Both Datasport and Glocknerkönig guarantee that your data will not be shared with third parties. Only your name, year of birth, nationality, and, if applicable, team will be published in start and result lists.
-
Drugs and doping are prohibited (unannounced checks may occur).
-
Before participating, you must familiarize yourself with the racecourse, facilities, equipment, and the event area. If you identify any safety risks, you must immediately inform the race management.
-
For minors, a legal guardian confirms acceptance of the competition rules and organizational guidelines by completing the registration. Race materials will only be issued to minors if accompanied by a legal guardian.
-
Photo and video recordings will be made at the Glocknerkönig. These may be published online (website, social media) and in print (press work, brochures, etc.) to showcase our activities. Please contact us at glocknerkoenig@bruck-fusch.at if you do not wish for images of you to be published.
-
Our partner Marathon-Photos.com will receive participants’ names and email addresses so that personal race photos can be offered after the event. You may opt out of this data usage during registration to avoid receiving any photos.
-
Severability Clause: If any provision of the registration (contract) or these competition rules and organizational guidelines is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, the validity of the remainder of the contract shall not be affected. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be replaced by a valid and enforceable provision that comes as close as possible to the intended economic purpose of the original. This also applies to any gaps in the contract.
